Artistic Program
The Merrigong Mix is the artistic hub of the company, where various projects are always on the boil, being created, developed, and cooked up for future production. It is here that Merrigong commissions plays like The Itch by Kate Smith and Drew Fairley with songs by Phil Scott (which you will see on stage some time in the very near future), and develops new Australian work (such as this year's production of Death in Bowengabbie by Caleb Lewis). It is also where we run workshops in professional theatre practice, and provide an identifiable and achievable path of development for local emerging and established artists through the Theatre Development Program. Most of this work takes place behind closed doors, but every now and then we also open the "kitchen" doors so you, our audience, can have a taste of what's cooking...
Auspicing Service
Grant applicants with no legal status (eg. unincorporated associations or groups of artists that have formed to work on a specific project) are required by funding bodies such as Arts NSW and the Australia Council to nominate an auspicing body to be responsible for the management of any grant. If you are thinking of applying for funding and require an auspicor, Merrigong Theatre Co provides an auspicing service to grant applicants.
Get Involved As a Volunteer
Merrigong Theatre Co runs a volunteer program utilising people from the local community to assist in various duties, including ushering and mailouts. If you have an interest in theatre and enjoy interaction with a variety of people, this is a great opportunity to see some of the best performances in the country at the same time as contributing to an exciting, vibrant company.
Art on Walls
Local visual artists who are inspired by performance or conversely whose work inspires performance continue to be showcased on the walls of the Aromas @ IPAC cafe. To date, Merrigong has displayed work by local visual artists Alannah Driese, Peter Solway, Anna Glynn, Coomaditchie United Artists Corporation and Kathryn Orton.
